BGMI and PUBG Mobile 1.8 update official release date, features, and more

The official release date and confirmed features of the BGMI and PUBG Mobile 1.8 update has finally been revealed. Players were too excited to get the new update as the game currently runs on the 1.7 version.

The 1.7 update came about a few weeks ago during the M5 Royale Pass and as now the M7 Royale Pass is going to release on 18 January, the devs have arranged for the official release of the 1.8 update much before that.

BGMI and PUBG Mobile 1.8 update release date and features revealed

The official release date of the PUBG Mobile 1.8 update is 12 January 2022 (7:00 AM IST) and the official release date for the BGMI 1.8 update is 14 January 2022 (7:00 AM IST). It is well-known that BGMI receives every update after PUBG Mobile’s global version.

Hence, as per the official source, BGMI is going to receive the 1.8 update version after two days from PUBG Mobile’s release.

The 1.8 version update has already started rolling out on several devices from today (12 January) onwards and will be available to all the devices for download on the Play Store by 18 January.

As the new update promises to fix more bugs and enhance UI improvements, it will also bring in major changes to special modes and features in the game, some of which are listed below.

New features in the 1.8 update

1) Jujutsu Kaisen collaboration mode

A brand new mode can be seen in the 1.8 update which will be called the Jujutsu Kaisen mode. Like the mirror world mode, players will be able to play this mode in Erangel as well as the Livik map.

Jujutsu Kaisen is a famous Japanese manga/anime series that is collaborating with BGMI. There will be four characters from the Jujutsu Kaisen anime to which players can transform into.

2) New achievement titles

There will also be new achievement titles related to the Jujutsu Kaisen mode, like the Jujutsu Sorcerer fantasy, etc. There will also be titles like Guess Master, Investigation Private, and Investigation Major.

3) Reviving in the water

Previously, players used to get directly killed when they were knocked inside water. However, after this new update, players will have an extra opportunity to save themselves. Players can now swim in the water even after getting knocked and their teammates can revive them inside water while swimming.

4) New sight scope

A brand new sight scope will also appear in this update which looks a lot like the Holographic sight. From the first look, it represents one of the variants of the Holographic sight in the typical shape of a square.

5) Aftermath mode in Livik

Another brand new mode will also appear in Livik which will be called the Aftermath mode. The Aftermath mode is a 2X2 map that is set in an apocalyptic world where players will be able to witness volcanoes and other disastrous sites. The mode will be unranked where players cannot push their trophies.

6) Santorini 8 vs 8 TDM map

A brand new Team Deathmatch map will also appear in the game called the Santorini map. The Santorini is an 8 vs 8 team deathmatch map in the Arena mode which will offer a fresh new location for PUBG fans to rain down their bullets.
