January 2022 security update is now available for Samsung Galaxy S21 series in more region

[UPDATED ON 25/01/2022]: Samsung Galaxy S21 series gets the January 2022 security path update through carrier network Verizon in the US. Verizon pushed this latest update for Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra. This security update comes with the firmware version G991USQU5BULJ for Galaxy S21, G996USQU5BULJ for Galaxy S21+ and G998USQU5BULJ for Galaxy S21 Ultra.

[Updated on 22/01/2022]: Samsung Galaxy S21 is now getting the latest January 2022 update in the United Kingdom. According to latest news, the update has entered the European market with firmware versions G991BXXU4BULF/ G991BOXM4BULF/ G991BXXU4BULG. The approx size of this update is 478 MB. Well, if you are from the UK, you can now avail this update and fix a handful of previous bugs and breaches.

Updated- Samsung is expanding the January 2022 security patch update for the Galaxy S21 series in India. The update comes on firmware version G99xBXXU4BULF. The update size is around 475MB only.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 series was one of the first ones to get the latest Android 12 One UI 4.0 update. Now it is getting another new firmware update which is the latest January 2022 security patch.

The Netherlands was the first country to get the latest January 2022 security patch for Galaxy S21 series. Now Samsung customers from Korea and the US can also get this security update. The latest Security Maintenance Release package contains not only Samsung patches but also Google patches. According to Samsung’s official website, this SMR fixes a handful of bugs in this month’s update. 

The new update featuring the January 2022 security patch carries firmware versions G99xNKSU3BULF in South Korea and G99xU1UES4BULE for the unlocked model sold in the United States.

It includes fifty-two Google fixes and nineteen SVE items in order to improve the overall security and stability of the devices. Among the fifty-two fixes, two of them are critical, while thirty-six of them are high-severity issues and five of them are moderate issues.

The first device to get the update is surprisingly a mid-range Galaxy A series smartphone, the Galaxy A51. And now the Samsung Galaxy S21 users will be able to get it as well.

Some of the bugs that Samsung fixes in this SMR update include unprotected dynamic receiver in SecSettings, Improper sanitization of incoming intent in Dressroom, improper check or handling of exceptional conditions in NPU driver, improper authorization in TelephonyManager, incorrect implementation of Knox Guard, etc.
