Ubisoft announces Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be free-to-play: Event date and more revealed

The next big addition, Dawn Of Ragnarok, will debut for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on March 10, and ahead of that Ubisoft is letting gamers sample the original game for free.

The community is quite excited regarding the free release as a lot of new players will be able to try out this epic game in the Assassin’s Creed series.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla going free-to-play and other rumors about the next game in the series

Players will be able to test Assassin’s Creed Valhalla for free from 24 February to 28 February. While no specifications have been given, it is probable that progress will be transferred over if gamers elect to purchase the complete edition of the game.

Recently, a rumor from Bloomberg stated that Ubisoft is launching a smaller Assassin’s Creed game that was once an expansion for Valhalla. The expansion will instead be a standalone game smaller than the previous entries in the series. It is also reported that there would be a larger emphasis on stealth gaming and the game will arrive either this year or in 2023.

A spokesperson for Ubisoft said the company doesn’t give an opinion “on rumors or speculation as they do a disservice to our development teams and community,” before trying to add that they have “solid and exciting line-up of titles in our pipeline, both established brands with new story twists and features, and brand new IPs that will continue to evolve the scenery of today’s video games.”

The speculation indicated that the future release would center on the character Basim from Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Speaking to Eurogamer last year, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla producer José Araiza confirmed the return of Basim. “I’m not going to offer you further specifics. But sure, you certainly will see more of Basim,” he stated.
