WhatsApp officially rolls out the ‘Message Reactions’ feature to beta testers

WhatsApp has been working on message reactions for quite some time. For a time now, Meta’s other messaging platforms, Facebook Messenger and Instagram have received comments, as have competitors such as Telegram, Signal, Twitter, and even iMessage.

We know how WhatsApp’s version of this feature will appear on the phone and on the web version thanks to several leaks. But if you want to check it out for yourself, there’s good news: it’s already available in the app’s newest beta for select users.

WhatsApp releases the ‘Message Reactions’ feature in the latest beta update

According to WABetaInfo, the message reactions feature is now available for certain users after upgrading to beta version 2.22.8.3. It’s not available to everyone but some people appear to be receiving it. It seems just as in previous teasers, with the same six responses — like, love, laugh, surprised, sad, and thanks.

This is not surprising given that the company recently offered settings to manage reaction notifications on both the iOS app beta and the WhatsApp Desktop beta.

As previously said, this appears to be a very restricted test that has only reached a few individuals. If you wish to try your luck, you may download the app’s most recent beta version.

If you’re already enrolled in the beta program, head to the Google Play Store and download the current version; if you aren’t, you can try entering (though we can’t guarantee you’ll get in because space is restricted and nearly always filled). You also have the (far easier) option of downloading the newest beta of the program from APKMirror and manually updating it.

If WhatsApp is already testing this function in a restricted deployment, it will not be long before it becomes available to everyone.
