Google Meet is officially going to roll out emoji reactions in the chatbox during video meetings

Google Meet is already a fantastic communication tool based on its idea. Aside from the obvious video and audio aspects, you may use its chat box to express yourself without disturbing the present discussion. However, Google has been aiming to broaden the ways you may connect with other users in conversations via in-meeting emoji replies.

Despite being announced over a year ago, the option has not yet been implemented – until today. Google has announced that the much-anticipated feature will be available to end-users in April.

The emoji reactions in Google Meet will help users to be more interactive during a video meeting

The company acknowledged the availability of emoji expressions in a blog post containing a number of Google Workspace updates. Emoji reactions are present in many social media apps, but Meet’s implementation will make them truly useful, providing you with a handful of emojis you can use to send instant feedback — throw a laugh reaction if the host said something funny, or spam them with hearts if you like what they’re saying. They will be quite beneficial in bringing more vitality to your meetings.

Emoji reactions are faster than comments, and they aren’t as intrusive as unnecessarily interrupting someone by activating your mic to speak. Emoji Reactions in Google Meet will be displayed live to the host and other participants in a stream on the left side of the screen and above a member’s video tile (or beside their name if they don’t have their camera turned on).

If you want to experiment with emoji reactions, look for a button with a waving hand symbol at the bottom of the screen (along with other call controls) in the coming weeks.
