Qualcomm Announced Wi-Fi 7 Networking Pro Series 3rd Gen Platform

Today, Qualcomm announced its Wi-Fi 7 capable Qualcomm Networking Pro Series Gen 3 family of platforms. The Qualcomm Networking Pro Series, Gen3 is the world’s highest performance Wi-Fi 7 network infrastructure platform portfolio commercially available.

Wi-Fi 7 doubles the maximum channel width (up to 320 MHz) and introduces superior modulation with 4k QAM, but most importantly, according to Andy Davidson, Senior Director of Technology Planning at Qualcomm, the key factor is its ability to manage and optimize the various spectrum bands available. The features it refers to are the multi-link function and the “Preamble puncturing”.

Highlights:

The multi-link feature, High Band Simultaneous Multi-Link, allows devices to use simultaneous (or alternating) spectrum across multiple links. The device uses each band as soon as it becomes available and can operate on both at the same time, aggregatingthroughput on both, avoiding congestion to reduce latency. This way it can not only aggregate channels of different bands, such as 5 GHz and 6 GHz, but can also set multiple device links within the same band.
