Realme UI Update Policy 2022: 3 Major Android Updates & 4 Years Of Security Patches

Android smartphones, generally, are supported for less time than iPhones: among the manufacturers most attentive to this aspect, however, we find Realme, which is preparing to announce support for up to 4 years for some top-of-the-range smartphones, Realme has jumped on the bandwagon of offering more OS updates for its devices, starting with the Realme GT 2 and GT 2 Pro.

Realme has already wrapped up its launch event of the year for flagships, where the Chinese firm unveiled 2 new devices: the Realme GT 2 and GT 2 Pro. One of the most exciting announcements (at least for us) came at the end of the event when Realme said they are committing to delivering 3 major Android OS updates and 4 years of security patches to the Realme GT 2 Series. Currently, it will not commit itself to delivering this level of software support to any other device. That means that Realme will finally offer the same level of software support as Samsung offers for its Galaxy phones. (Recently changed the update policy)

Realme Update Policy 2022:

The Realme GT 2 and Realme GT 2 Pro will all ship with Realme’s Realme UI 3.0 software based on Android 12. Before today’s announcement, we would expect Realme to upgrade each of these devices to Android 13 and then Android 14. Now, we can expect Realme to provide updates all the way to Android 15. Realme didn’t explicitly name which upcoming budget or midrange devices this policy applies to. Read more August 2022 security update rolled out for Realme X7, V15, and Q2 Pro

These are the smartphones that will be supported for the longest time:

Realme should formalize everything within a few days (probably already during the presentation of Realme GT 2 Series) and we hope that the list can be extended as much as possible by including medium-range smartphones.
