NothingOS 1.1.4 Update: Adds new features and September patch in Nothing Phone (1)

Not for yet another publicity campaign of the start-up co-founded by Carl Pei, Nothing Phone (1) is still getting people talking about itself even after its debut.

Today we are not talking about any of this but about the new software update — that Nothing Phone (1) has started to receive in the past few hours, which brings in new security patch and features for the camera and beyond.

In the last few hours the smartphone has also received its new software update. This is build 1.1.4 of Nothing OS, the Android-based user interface developed in the Home Nothing. The Update brings the latest Android September 2022 security patch.

The new update comes with improvements relate to ultra wide camera, the time it takes to process photos and videos made and HDR, shooting speed of shots with the ultra-wide-wide camera, and calibration and increased colour consistency between main and ultra-wide sensors. Let’s go see the full changelog together:

  • New features
    • New option to flip the 3-button navigation bar.
    • All Ear (1) app features are now integrated into Nothing OS. Customise gesture controls and switch
      Noise Cancellation modes and more in Quick Settings and Settings.
    • Now supports LHDC high-def audio.
  • Camera improvements
    • New option to add a Nothing themed watermark to the camera app.
    • Improved ultra-wide camera color calibration and increased colour consistency between main and ultra-wide sensors.
    • New motion detection algorithm added for improved stability when shooting moving objects.
    • Increased shooting speed when using HDR in ultra-wide mode.
  • System improvements
    • Updated to September Security Patch.
    • Reduced battery consumption for Always On Display and other use cases.
    • Improved thermal performance.
    • New UI for system updates.
    • Improved Face Unlock algorithm.
  • Bug fixes
    • Fixed network issues for certain carriers,
    • Fixed an issue causing incoming calls to show up as Unknown Contact.
    • Fixed HDFC Bank app fingerprint

The update just described is currently being automatically distributed via OTA globally. And please note that the device comes with Android 12 and the promise of at least three years of OS updates and four years of security patches.
