Will The OnePlus 8 And 8T Series Get The OxygenOS 14 OS Update?

As of now, the OnePlus 8 and 8T series are one of the most popular smartphones in the market. It has many such features which are liked by the users. One of the most notable features is the software – OxygenOS, which is based on the Android OS. After the release of the Android 13 update, now the question here is whether the most loved OnePlus 8 and 8T series will get the upcoming Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 update or not?

The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro smartphones have been launched with OxygenOS 10 on top of Android 10 software and will be eligible to receive the Android three software update. It is worth mentioning that the OnePlus 8 series recently received the last and third Android 13 update, so it concludes that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will not receive the upcoming Android 14 update.

While the OnePlus 8T was initially introduced with Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 software, it recently received Android 13 based on OxygenOS 13 major update. So far, the smartphone has received two major Android updates – Android 12 and Android 13. Also, it is eligible to receive three major software updates, which means that the OnePlus 8T will receive OxygenOS 14 on top of the Android 14 software update.

OnePlus OxygenOS (Android OS) Update Cycle:

OnePlus made an amendment in 2021 to change its update policy for devices from two years of major software updates to a promise of three years of major software updates and four years of monthly security updates.

It is noted that, in 2020, during the launch of the OnePlus 8 series, the company had said that this new device would receive three major Android updates and four years of security updates. However, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro devices were unveiled with the Android 10 update, while the OnePlus 8T was launched with Android 11 software.

  • OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro: Not eligible for Android 14
  • OnePlus 8T: Eligible for Android 14

The conclusion is the OnePlus 8, and 8 Pro are the next devices to lose major software support but will continue to receive monthly security updates for the next year.
