Exactly a year ago, Oppo announced a new update policy, promising three major Android OS updates and four years of security patches for the Find X series flagships. Recently OPPO again impressed us with great news! The Chinese tech giant has announced a new update policy for flagship phones.
According to the information, OPPO has confirmed that “selected devices launched in 2023” will now receive four ColorOS updates and five years of regular security patches. It means that this latest update policy is applicable for future flagship smartphones launching next year. Therefore, Find X5 Pro and Find N smartphone users are not included in this new update policy.
It’s curious to see Oppo explicitly saying that it guarantees four major “Color OS” updates. However, it could theoretically only offer one or two Android version upgrades. But a company hasn’t still needs to confirm which of its phones will benefit from this extended support period, meaning it’s unclear whether it’s just Oppo flagship phones or will apply to the midrange lineup as well.
