Asus Zenfone 9 Android 13 Beta Available

ASUS launched a new top-of-the-range smartphone: it is the Zenfone 9, a very compact device but with level technical specifications, as it mounts a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, up to 16 GB of RAM and a 50 MP main sensor. The smartphone came to market with Android 12 of course, but ASUS is already working on upgrading to Android 13.

The Taiwan company has announced the start of the Android 13 closed beta program for some owners of ASUS Zenfone 9. Despite being “closed”, anyone can join the program, but the company will select only a few users who will be able to install the update to the latest version of Android. Obviously, since this is a beta, it is highly likely that there are still some bugs to fix on the operating system, and therefore it would be better to avoid installing the software on your main device.

In any case, here’s how to join the beta program:

  1. Go to Settings > System Updates and click on the gear icon at the top right
  2. Click on Enroll in the Beta Test Program, agree to the software terms of use, and sign in with your ASUS account
  3. Wait for the OTA update to arrive

As anticipated, anyone can join the program, but ASUS will select only a few users: it is unclear what the maximum number of participants is, much less whether a larger (perhaps open to all) launch of the beta program is planned. In the coming weeks we will definitely know more about the release of the stable Android 13 update for Zenfone 9.
