When we talk of smartphone technology, the first names that come to our mind are Apple and Samsung, who keep on inventing new things every now and then. Apple and Samsung made a surprise breakthrough in 2021 with the introduction of their AirTag and Samsung Galaxy SmartTag trackers. Now a new rumor and leaks tap into some new features that suggest Google is planning to launch its own tracker Tag, similar to Apple and Samsung.

A few days back, Android researcher Mishaal Rahman reported some of the latest information that Google is working on locator tag support in Fast Pair. Meanwhile, Kuba Wojciechowski also shared some information regarding Google’s Smart tracker Tag; similar to the AirTag, Google’s developer team has been working on a device codenamed “grogu,”. 

According to the report, “grogu” (alternatively “groguaudio” or “GR10”)is currently being developed by the Nest team, which will support both BLE and the very tracker-friendly UWB. The new confirmation of Grogu’s existence, sometime in the first half of the year, maybe more likely be a plan for Google I/O to coincide with the Pixel 8 than any plans at all.

On the other hand, other tech manufacturers may also launch tracking tags in 2023, as it is an extremely easy way to track your stuff. Moreover, all the smartphone brands aim to deliver all the essential products that are related to the safety of the user’s equipment.

So far, tracking tag products are available from Apple and Samsung. AirTag and Galaxy SmartTag are tracking devices developed by Apple and Samsung, respectively. Both Tag is designed to act as key finders, helping people locate personal items such as keys, bags, apparel, small electronic devices, and vehicles. To locate lost items, AirTags use Apple’s crowdsourced Find My network, and Galaxy SmartTag uses SmartThings mobile app.

According to report, Google is planning to launch its tracker at the the I/Q 2023 event, which is all set to stary on May 10. One the other hand Samsung also working on the a new tracker same as the Galaxy SmartTag. The upcoming tracker device is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 5and Galaxy Flip 5 in 2023.
