OnePlus Sets The New Standard Of 4 Years Of OS Upgrade For 2023 Devices

OnePlus rolled out the OxygenOS 13 official update for almost all eligible devices except the Nord series (Excluding Nord CE 2 Lite and Nord 2T). But it is expected that the company will expand the update for some more devices in the upcoming days. OnePlus is currently improving its device’s performance, security, and vulnerability, fixing known bugs via the January 2023 update.

Software update is necessary for every device, because updates bring new features, improvements, fixes, and more for better performance of the device. Also, OnePlus smartphones run their own developed software system – OxygenOS, on top of Android OS. The Chinese tech giant is providing a variety of OxygenOS firmware updates, including major Android OS and minor security OTAs. Recently, OnePlus promised that select 2023 phones would get four major Android updates.

As per the community report, OnePlus has an announcement to commit to a longer support period for some upcoming smartphones. The company will deliver four major Android OS updates and five years of security updates to selected devices launched in 2023 and beyond.

But a company representative didn’t confirm which of its phones would benefit from this extended support period, meaning it’s unclear whether it’s just OnePlus flagship phones or will apply to the midrange Nord lineup as well.

OnePlus has already introduced the OnePlus 11 in China, and the device will soon launch in the Indian market and globally. However, it is expected that the device will come with a new standard upgrade policy and OxygenOS 13.1 Out of the box.

As of now, OnePlus offers three major OS version upgrades and four years of security updates to its flagship devices like the OnePlus 10 Pro and OnePlus 10T, while the mid-range like the OnePlus Nord 2T will receive the two major Android OS updates and three years of security patches. On the other hand, the company will be committed to just one Android OS update and two years of security updates for affordable phones like the Nord N300.
