WhatsApp Announced New Security Features

WhatsApp has announced new security features to provide users with added privacy and security. Now it’s announcing new features that will be rolling out to all users on both platforms (Android and iOS) in the coming months, and they may be available to some beta testers soon.

WhatsApp new security features include Account Protect, Device Verification, and Automatic Security Codes, which help users prevent unauthorized access to accounts and protect against mobile device malware.

With these features, the company believes your messages should be as private and secure as private conversations. Plus, securing your personal messages with default end-to-end encryption is the foundation of that security. We won’t stop building new features to give you additional layers of privacy and more control over your messages.

WhatsApp New Security Features

Account Protect: This feature can help alert you about an unauthorized attempt to move your account to another device. If you need to switch your WhatsApp account to a new device – the company can double-check that it’s really you.

Device verification: This security feature helps prevent mobile device malware from taking advantage of a user’s phone by using WhatsApp to send unwanted messages. The company has added checks to authenticate user accounts to protect them if their devices are compromised.

Automatic Security Code: This new feature makes the security code verification process easier and more accessible to all users. Specifically, WhatsApp is releasing a new security feature based on a process called “Key Transparency” that allows you to automatically verify that you have a secure connection. What this means for you is that when you click on the Encryption tab, you will immediately be able to verify that your personal conversations are secure. For more information, click here.
