Google Docs New Update Allows Flexibility In Table Placement

While Docs already offers different features for an enhanced formatting and customization experience, Google is pushing some more improved formatting-related features for Google Docs. Since there is always scope for improvements, these new formatting-related additions will make flexibility in Google Docs more precise.

On March 20, 2023, the US tech giant improved the formatting and customization options for table contents and reorganized the options included in the table properties sidebar in Google Docs.

In a recent development, the US tech giant has improved table positioning options for documents set in Pages format. These features add greater flexibility and control over the layout of text with tables in docs, allowing you to:

After installing this latest update, you can drag tables in a document and place them directly where you want, and Set a fixed position for a table on a page. In addition, it provides Quick Layout to quickly move the table to a preset position on the page and more. For more information, check the full changelog.

What’s Changing:

  • Drag tables in a document and place them directly where you want 
  • Wrap content around a table on a page. The wrap direction (left, right, both sides) and margin from the surrounding text can be specified. 
  • Set a fixed position for a table on a page. 
  • Provide quick layouts to instantly move a table to a preset position on a page. 

In addition, the company supports the import/export of Microsoft Word documents with tables up front so that your documents remain consistent.

According to the information, this latest update for Google Docs is being gradually rolled out for beta testers through rapid release from June 14. Also, this new feature will be available for common customers from June 27.
