Xiaomi Finally Matches OEMs Industry-leading Android Update Policy

Xiaomi recently, on 15 August, in China, announced its first flagship device that will get four years of major Android OS updates and five years of security patches, which is none other than the Redmi K60 Ultra.

The brand has finally decided to start giving much longer support to its devices. No one can deny the fact that Xiaomi offers superb flagship Android models even in better as well as affordable budgets.

Xiaomi Update Policy:

According to Redmi’s official page on Weibo, it is revealed that this Extreme Edition of Redmi K60 will get the software support of 5 years of OTA updates and 4 major Android version upgrades simultaneously, MIUI 15 first batch of upgrade lists by the company, similar to other OEMs including Samsung, OnePlus, OPPO.’ Through this, Xiaomi has dramatically improved the software experience.

However, it is not mentioned in the company’s official announcement how many MIUI version upgrades it will get in the future time. And the notable fact is this update promise is currently applicable to this device in China.

On the other hand, Samsung has been giving 5 years of security updates and 4 years of major Android OS upgrades to its flagship device and other devices too. Jumping on iPhone so it has to support up to 6 years of security patches and 5 years of major Android OS updates. Apart from both of these leading companies, OnePlus also started rolling out this scheme to its flagship device; for now which includes the OnePlus 11.

Google also assures three Android upgrades and five years of security patches to its Pixel devices. Moreover, if Xiaomi rolls out its new scheme of providing much longer software support beyond China in many other regions, it will match Samsung and OnePlus. It is expected that soon the brand will provide its much longer software support to all.
