OnePlus is Lengthening its product area, whether it is about Flagship smartphones or foldables. For a couple of weeks, the brand has been teasing the OnePlus Open– the first foldable device, the OnePlus Pad Go, the next version of the OnePlus Pad, and the OnePlus 12, the upcoming flagship number series. However, these all are the devices, the company is teasing them publicly, but there is something under the hood.
The new reports indicate that the brand OnePlus is working on its secret project under wraps: a new Smartwatch. Up to now, the brand has all but, unfortunately, a drawback of a full-fledged smartwatch; in place of this, it is offering a fitness tracker with limited functionalities and features in a smartwatch form, or we can say a band which tracks fitness.
Recent leaks are rumouring that OnePlus might be getting ready to announce significant change. It has been speculated because a post on X, formerly Twitter, shared by @realMlgmXyysd, reveals details about an upcoming smartwatch from OPLUS, the parent company of OnePlus, OPPO, and Realme. The forthcoming smartwatch is also expected to launch under the branding of both OnePlus and OPPO brands.
According to the reports, the codename of the watch, “Star”, is currently developing. It will feature a round display with a resolution of 466 x 466 and will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 Platform, along with the BES 2700 co-processor.
It is also rumoured that the smartwatch in the Chinese market will be set to run on ColorOS for Watch 6.0, based on Android 11 Go. In the global market, it is expected to use the WearOS platform. The sample watch faces, which resemble the ones found on the OPPO Watch 3 series, are also revealed. Meanwhile, the feature list is extensive, which includes ECG, AOD (Always On Display), first clench gestures, a crown, eSIM, blood oxygen measurement, heartbeat, sleep tracking and many more.
The forthcoming smartwatch is highly expected to compete with the upcoming Google Pixel 2 and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 6, featuring both Bluetooth and LTE models. The watch is also expected to take the floor in 2024 with other OnePlus devices.
