In 2021, YouTube introduced its “Premium Lite” plan for the first time at €6.99 per month in selected European countries, including Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. But now the dice have turned upside down because the brand decided to shut down this cheapest Premium Lite plan after 25 October 2023
YouTube Premium plans to offer a lot of facilities as well as capabilities to the users, but one of the most countable is ad-free videos. On the flip side, YouTube’s “Premium Lite” plan just helps the audience view ad-free videos to enhance their experience. But now the brand is shutting down this affordable plan.
If the recent reports are to be believed, YouTube Premium Lite is taking its last countable breath in the handful of European countries, as mentioned above. Once the brand debuted this Premium Lite plan in these European countries, it kept it from other regions.
Regarding this decision, the brand stated that.
“We’re writing to let you know that after 25 October 2023, we will no longer be offering your version of Premium Lite. While we understand that this may be disappointing news, we continue to work on different versions of Premium Life as we incorporate feedback from our users, creators, and partners.”
Noticeably, the brand announced the removal exactly after just a few weeks YouTube Premium upped its prices for individual plans for the very first time. Now, the users will have to pay for the plan starting at $ 13.99 per month. Whereas the Family plans jumped to $22.99 per month late last year.
Obviously, it’s pretty sad 🙁 YouTube’s Premium Lite plan is left for a few days. The audience will no longer be able to pay for this affordable plan. And to experience ad-free video, they have to pay extra.
