Individual Contact Widget Upgraded With More Material You

Google is on the way to enhancing the users’ Contact widget experience. Yes! Earlier this year, the brand introduced an Individual Contact Android widget. And now Google is updating it just to bring more Material You flourishes. With this new update, the users will get a totally new and modern visual experience. In this article, let’s discuss what new changes are coming.
The brand ‘Google’ is rolling out this latest updated Individual Contact widget with its identification version number, which is v4.17 of Google Contacts, so the users can easily identify the update without any effort. The update is bringing the recent spate of latest features and quality-of-life improvements to the application.
Exactly How The Updated Individual Contact Android Widget Will Look
Now, with this new update, the Individual Contact widget will now appear in five measurements, and there is a new appearance for widgets of every size. The exact look is mentioned below.
- 1×1 and 2×1 – The smallest configurations. With this size, the user will only get a circular profile image of the contact.
- 3×1: While choosing this measurement, the user will have a pill-shaped container consisting of a calling and messaging shortcut.
- 4×1 and 5×1: The largest configurations, this size will show the contact’s name along with calling and messaging shortcuts.
However, the oval shape certainly fits Material You better as compared to the previously rounded rectangle. Still, the loss of the iconic circle, along with two shortcuts at the top-right and bottom-left, is somewhat unfortunate. Also, that shape is still in use by YouTube Music’s Turntable, which unluckily does not spin – and Google Clock’s Stopwatch.
Noticeably, while increasing the height of the widget, the users will get a rectangular widget with the name placed at the top-left corner and similar shortcuts (calling and message) at the bottom. Also, if users are used to go wider, the Dynamic Color-themed buttons are placed at the bottom-right corner. Also, now, this will be able to take over an entire home screen.
If the users want to change the contact quickly and easily, then they can do so by holding down on the widget and clicking the pencil icon that appears in the bottom-right corner.
