OnePlus announced its OxygenOS 14 open beta timeline for a larger group of devices, which are also getting the beta software in the coming months. The OnePlus Pad, along with the Nord 3 5G and the OnePlus 11R, will be the first devices to receive the beta in October, while the OnePlus 9 series and older phones like the Nord 2 and CE series are expected to get the update in November. Consequently, numerous OnePlus smartphones from the brand, some of which are pretty popular, will, unfortunately, miss out on these Major OxygenOS updates.
OnePlus OxygenOS Update Policy:
In July 2021, OnePlus confirmed its new update policy for its device portfolio. Flagship devices, starting with the OnePlus 8 series, will now get three major Android OS updates and four years of security updates. Also, OnePlus Nord and Nord CE devices will get two major OS updates along with three years of security patches.
In December 2022, the company further expanded its update policy for OxygenOS to guarantee four major Android upgrades along with five years of security patches for selected flagship models in 2023.
Coming back to the topic at hand, the Chinese tech giant needs to push such devices to the end of major software updates, as these software products often do not fit appropriately into some smartphones due to their outdated and incompatible mechanisms.
In the OxygenOS 14 open beta timeline, some flagship models are being left out, indicating that these devices will not receive the upcoming flagship OxygenOS based on Android OS. In this article, you can check the device that will not receive any major software update but will receive the monthly security update till later this year.
