Galaxy S22 Gets October 2023 Security Update In The US

Samsung already released the October 2023 security update to its devices, and that update is now available for the Galaxy S22 series. The new security update is currently rolling out to the carrier-locked as well as Unlocked versions of Galaxy S23 series phones in the US.

The newest software update for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with firmware version S90*USQS3CWI1 for the carrier-locked units in the US. The update is currently rolling out on Verizon, MetroPCS, US Cellular, Spectrum Mobile, Xfinity (Comcast), and Dish Wireless’s network in the US.

Plus, The new update for the unlocked Galaxy S22 comes with firmware version S908U1UES3CWI1 in the US. Other carriers could also release the new update on their networks soon.

According to the information, the firmware fixes 12 Samsung vulnerabilities and exposures, which are vulnerabilities that affect Galaxy devices, as well as two critical vulnerabilities in the core Android OS and a few dozen high-risk vulnerabilities.

Looking at the firmware changelog, it seems that the update only brings the new security patch and nothing else. So, don’t expect to see any new features or system improvements with the new software update.

If you have a Galaxy S22 series phone in the US, you can now check for the new update on your phone. To do that, navigate to Settings >> Software update and tap Download and Install. Alternatively, you can wait for the OTA incremental update.
