Updated: The Korean tech giant is expanding the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5’s October 2023 security patch for more carriers in the United States. This time the T-Mobile, MetroPCS, Spectrum Mobile, Xfinity (Comcast), US Cellular carrier-locked and Unlocked models of Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 are receiving the update.

Samsung has finally started rolling out the October 2023 security update for the fifth-generation foldable Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 smartphones, and they are the first to receive the latest patch. The company has already announced details of the October 2023 security patch, which includes CVE and SVE items to enhance security.
According to Samsung, the October 2023 security patch addresses 2 critical and 32 high-level CVEs from Google. On the flip side, 1 CVE was resolved by a previous update from the company, and 1 is not relevant to Galaxy devices. In addition to the Google patch, Samsung also offers 12 SVE items to improve the user experience.
Talking about availability and version numbers, the fresh update is currently available for models locked to the Verizon network in the US. Still, it will start becoming available to others as we move through the week. Moving forward, the October 2023 security update for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 smartphones comes with One UI build versions F731USQS1AWI3 and F946USQS1AWI3, respectively.
If you have a carrier-locked Galaxy Z Flip 5 or Galaxy Z Fold 5 on Verizon’s network, users can install the update via Settings >> Software Update >> Download and Install.
To recall, Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 a few months ago with Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 out of the box. The devices will get the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 beta update within the next few days or weeks. After Android 14, the devices will get three more Android OS updates till Android 17.
