Google Widely Releasing Redesigned ‘At A Glance’ Widget On Pixel Device

The “At a Glance” widget is a part of Google Workspace that shows needy information, such as date, time, weather, and many more, as per the user’s choice. In early September, the company announced the At a Glance widget redesign, and now, finally, it is rolling out to Pixel phones widely.

With the redesigned At a Glance widget, Google is providing users with a totally new and fresh appearance, and they will get a modern look and see their information in a new way. However, for now, the company is rolling out this update for Google Pixel devices.

Exactly How The Redesigned ‘At a Glance Is Appearing

Now, the redesigned At a Glance widget has a pill-shaped widget whose measurement is 5×1, but the users can adjust the top or bottom padding.

At the right corner of the pill-shaped widget, current temperature and condition information is placed in a scalloped Material You shape, which is themed with Dynamic Color. On the left side of the pill, the date, upcoming events, a weather forecast, and much more are appearing. This is separated by a three-dot overflow menu, which brings up an ‘Assistant At a Glance” sheet.

The controls which are placed here consist of four different choices, which are mentioned below:

  • About this content
  • Hide the content
  • Not/Useful thumbs up/down

Also, the users have the ability to change the Style, which is available in three looks –

  • Semi-transparent
  • Transparent: Thin white outline
  • Solid

Once the At a Glance widget gets upgraded, then the “Customise” opens the dedicated “At a Glance widget” settings to turn on or off:

  • Weather
  • Alers
  • Upcoming
  • Work Profile
  • Food & household orders
  • Commute
  • Time to leave
  • Travel

Noticeably, preferences for the widget on non-Pixel devices were previously not available. At the moment, the wide availability of this stable Google app release update appears on Pixel devices but not tablets.

Moreover, the Pixel owners are complaining that the new Style does not appear at the top of the Pixel Launcher, which is presumably trying to maintain consistency with the lock screen and AOD. While it is not impossible from a design standpoint, it’s important to note that the fixed Launcher version has been developed to support various Pixel’s particular capabilities than the widget, which is meant for all Android smartphones.
