As we head towards the OxygenOS 14 beta, we are getting a lot of new information about the OxygenOS alpha beta. On the flip side, it looks great that the OnePlus 9 series is the oldest flagship on OnePlus’ Android 14 upgrade list. The OnePlus 9 series comes with Android 11, is eligible for three major and four years of security patch updates, and will receive Android 14, the third and last major update.
After the significant Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 software update, the OnePlus 9 smartphone is also eligible for one more major OxygenOS 14.1 software update, which will be based on Android 14, similar to OxygenOS 14.
OnePlus’s 2021 flagship lineup includes four models: the OnePlus 9/9 Pro, the OnePlus 9R, and the OnePlus 9RT. These devices are only supported for the three major upgrades. But late last year, the company extended OS support for another year, bringing the lifespan up to 4 generations but restricting the policy to the OnePlus 11.
Sadly, the OnePlus 8 series isn’t eligible for the Android 14 update, but OnePlus 8T will get it. This makes the OnePlus 9 series the oldest flagship on OnePlus’ Android 14 upgrade list.
OnePlus recently released the Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 closed beta update for the OnePlus 9 series, which includes the OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, and OnePlus 9RT smartphone users in India. Also, OnePlus 9 series smartphone users will get OxygenOS 14 open beta from November.
