Pixel Watch To Bring 3 Safety Features With Wear OS 4

As per Google’s announcement, Wear OS 4 is going to come to Pixel Watch later this year, bringing a few new and interesting safety features, which are going to debut with the newest Pixel Watch 2.

Wear OS 4 Safety Features

Emergency Sharing

Although security is a big cornerstone of the latest wearables, Google is adding three new features to the original Pixel Watch with the Wear OS 4 update. One of the three features is Emergency Sharing, allowing you to send real-time locations to preset contacts. Ahead of time, you can determine what information will be shared, including:

  • Phone call:  while beginning and ending the call.
  • Emergency call: while beginning and ending the emergency call.
  • Low battery:  when your battery percentage is below 15.
  • Real-time location:  it’s needed for Emergency sharing and uses Location Sharing in Google Maps.
Wear OS 4: Safety Check Feature

Yet another safety feature is Safety Check, which allows you to create a check-in timer. In case you don’t stop the timer, your Pixel watch will automatically share your real-time location with all your emergency contacts.

Wear OS 4: Medical Information

The final safety feature that is coming to the Pixel Watch is the facility to add Medical Information to your Pixel Watch that emergency contacts can access just by long-pressing on the crown. Furthermore, the most available information that you will be able to add on your phone, including date of birth, blood type, height, weight, allergies, certain medications, address, medical notes, as well as the organ donor status.

This directly connects to existing Emergency SOS and Fall Detection. However, the Safety Signal and the Emergency Contact Dialing are both exclusive to the Pixel Watch 2.

In addition, Google is planning to bring the Auto Call Screen to both generations of the Pixel Watch as long as it’s paired with a Tensor-powered smartphone. Plus, you will also receive the real-time transcriptions of a call directly on your wrist. However, it is set to come in December Feature Drop.

Applications, including Gmail, are already available on the Wear OS 3; meanwhile, the new system features consist of the capability to transfer your smartwatch to a new phone along with the updated Tile designs.
