New test alert 📣 If you are a person who leaves people on read, then this news is for you! Meta is on the test ride; it continuously tests new features to enhance the user’s experience at their convenience. Now, it is testing a new feature named “Read Receipts” on Instagram. So, with this feature, Instagram users will get the ability to use read receipts in direct message conversations.

Instagram is testing a new feature that allows users to turn read receipts off in their direct messages. This means that once the users turn off their read receipts whenever they read received messages, the sender will never know if they saw their messages.

This is being speculated by the post on Instagram shared by Adam Mosseri, which stated that.

You asked, and we listened. We heard your feedback and have started testing a new feature that lets you turn read receipts off in your DMs. Soon, people will be able to choose when to let others see when they’ve read their messages.”

By this statement, it is pretty clear that the brand is testing this feature by keeping in mind the demand of users. As a result, the new feature for turning off read receipts is in the developing stage. However, this option is not new for Meta, as it is already available on WhatsApp.

Yes! WhatsApp’s users are already familiar with this ‘Read receipt’ feature placed in privacy settings. Regarding this feature, Mark Zuckerberg also stated something before Mosseri

If you’re someone who leaves people to read, your day has come. We’re testing the ability to turn off read receipts on Instagram DMs.”

So basically, the users will get the ability to read messages without knowing the sender that they have read the message. Isn’t this interesting?
