Users of the well-known messaging app WhatsApp may now celebrate the release of a novel chat filter function for its web client. This upgrade adds an easy-to-use framework for managing and classifying discussions, and it’s presently available to a limited number of beta testers.

WhatsApp had previously hinted at the creation of two major improvements for WhatsApp Web: a redesigned sidebar and the much-awaited chat filters in an effort to improve user experience. Although the redesign of the sidebar is still planned for a later release, beta testers of WhatsApp Web’s most recent version are already taking notice of the conversation filter feature.

The chat filters that were just released appear as a top-row addition on the chat list screen, giving users a simple and quick way to arrange their messages.

This upgrade allows for the strategic placement of important filters, such as “Unread,” “Contacts,” and “Groups,” near the top of the chat list page. By showing just conversations with unread messages, the “Unread” filter makes it easier to swiftly catch up on important messages. Concurrently, the “Groups” filter elegantly aggregates all group chats for easy browsing, and the “Contacts” filter streamlines the process of retrieving messages from saved contacts.

Beta testers who have signed up for WhatsApp Web’s official beta program and are running the most recent web client version can presently access the conversation filter feature. It is anticipated that WhatsApp will make this functionality available to more users in the upcoming days as it continues to be improved and expanded.
