Unlike every smartphone manufacturer, including some big names, Realme also offers software updates with security patches that significantly improve the device’s functionality and increase its lifespan by a year or two; however, the brand couldn’t compete with the big brands as it only offers a two-year OS update commitment.
In contrast, the brand has recently unveiled its latest realme 12 Pro series, consisting of realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+, respectively. The devices have arrived with several interesting features and specifications, but simultaneously, the biggest question arises: how many updates will the Realme 12 Pro receive?
Realme usually tends to offer two major OS updates with three years of monthly security patches; however, the brand has significantly changed its commitment for its newer devices, which will certainly receive better OS update promises. Still, this is not the case with the new Realme 12 Pro, which is committed to receiving two major OS updates along with three years of security patch updates.
Since launching with the latest Android 14-based realme UI 5.0 out of the box, the device will continue to receive the latest new features and enhancements until Android 16-based realme UI 7.0, while it will get 3 years of security patch updates, which is till 2027, respectively.
In addition, despite several other brands bringing several upgrades within their software update policies, Realme retains its minimum OS update policy. Until next time we hear about the brand extending its 2-year OS update commitment, all the realme devices will significantly receive two major OS updates with three years of security patches.
