Is The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G Waterproof?

Xiaomi has launched a new member in its popular and most demanding Note series, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G, in its hometown, China. As usual, following the tradition, the brand has induced a number of interesting features in the new Note. These intuitive features include a massive curved OLED display panel, a higher refresh rate of 120Hz, vibrant in-display colours, Gorilla Glass Victus protection, a 4 nm-based powerful 5G chipset and more. Despite coming with a lot of amazing features and technologies, the biggest threat that a smartphone can have is water. So, if you want to buy this latest Note, then you need to know whether the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is waterproof or not.

What is IP Ratings?

Meanwhile, the IP or Ingress Protection ratings are the international standard technology, which states whether the smartphone is dust- and waterproof. Whereas talking about the IP68 ratings, the first digit in the IP ratings, 6, is considered the highest level of protection against solid particles such as dust. This means that your phone can easily handle a dusty environment with ease.

On the other hand, the second digit follows the IP rating, if it is 8, which offers the highest level of protection against liquid substances like water. The smartphone can easily handle a few splashes of water and even survive submersion in water for a few minutes. Apart from this, if the IP rating has “X” instead of any digit, it indicates that the company has not performed any test for protection against liquid substances.

Is The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G Waterproof?

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ comes with IP68 ratings, which makes it a proper dustproof and Water Resistant device. The new Note can handle dust particles and water splashes very easily. It has been tested under controlled laboratory conditions to IP68 ratings under the IEC 60529 standard, and it can survive submersion in water within a maximum depth of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.

However, splashproof, dustproof and waterproof functions are not permanently effective, and the protective performance might decrease due to daily wear and tear. This is not a professional waterproof smartphone and can lose its protection capacity with time. This new Note has received the IP68 ratings for fresh water, so it is highly recommended not to take your smartphone for certain underwater activities in a pool, as the salty water of the pool can easily harm the chemicals inside the battery and make your smartphone’s battery corrosive. Also, do not charge your device when it’s wet.
