Is the new Xiaomi 14 Waterproof? Does it come with an IP certification? IP Rating, Explained!

Xiaomi has always ensured to offer some of the best and advanced capabilities to its users. Also, the brand is considered as the most popular smartphone brand due to smartphones, which comes with advanced flagship-level features. With that, the brand is all set to launch its most-awaited and premium flagship model, the Xiaomi 14 in the Indian market on 7th of March. In contrast, several Xiaomi fans are eagerly waiting for the device to arrive in the market, still it’s always better to learn about its water protection durability along with several other features.

Beside featuring such incredible features, the biggest question arises- is the newest Xiaomi 14 waterproof? Does it come with an IP certification? Let’s find it out. 

The quick answer is YES! The new Xiaomi 14 comes with an IP68 rating, which the brand claims that the device is all dust and waterproof. As the IP68 ratings are considered to be the highest and industry-level ingress protection standard, which is measured by testing the device in certain laboratories. In contrast, what does an IP68 rating stand for?

With that, the new Xiaomi 14 comes with an IP68 rating, the IP or Ingress Protection ratings is measured against two ingress protection parameters, solid and liquid ingress, respectively. Simultaneously, in the case of Xiaomi 14, with respect to the IP68 rating, the first digit following the IP rating, which is 6 is considered as the highest level of protection against fine dust particles, thus making it dustproof.

On the flip side, the second digit after the IP rating, which is 8, offers the highest-level of protection against water submersion and splashes. This certainly means that the newest Xiaomi 14 is a Waterproof device and it can easily survive water submersion for a few minutes while also you will not have to worry about getting water or rain splashes over its display.
