Google is Rolling Out the Android Cloud Photo Picker with Google Photos support

Google has been enhancing the Android experience, bringing some new and useful functionalities that will offer more convenience to the users. Similarly, soon after the announcement of the Android Photo Picker integration with Google Photos, the company is rolling out the feature more widely now.

With the latest update, Android’s system photo picker will now be able to easily access your Google Photos library, which was earlier limited to local media only. All your Google Photos media, including all your backed-up photos and videos, will now be merged within the Android photo picker without any inconvenience of switching apps for choosing photos or videos from the gallery.

With the February 2024 Google Play System update, Google has announced the Android Cloud Photo Picker integration to Google Photos and other apps, but after that, the Photo Picker wasn’t available due to some issues, but it can be noticed again on a few devices. In contrast, now your Android’’s photo picker will be able to use the photos and videos that are backed up to your Google Photos account.

After the update, initially you will get a small banner explaining to you the newest functionality that says, “Backed up photos are now included,”  while offering you to choose your desired photos from your Google Photos account. Once your Google Photos is successfully merged with your Android’s System Photo Picker, you will notice a short sentence, “Getting all your photos…” right at the top, while all the photos that come at the bottom are from your Google Photos library.

You will find the new option on the on the Cloud Media App Setting page when you tap on the three-dot menu. It’s possible that your Google Photos account is selected by default, while simultaneously, if you are not satisfied with the new integration, you can simply choose to get to your old local settings by tapping on the None option.
