Google Messages Rolling Out Profile Discovery Feature To More Users

Google Messages has always been the most significant way to stay connected to your loved ones. Simultaneously, this popular messaging platform has been rolling out the Profile Discovery feature, which was announced last year, to more users with upgraded contact photos.

Google explains that the new profile discovery feature will allow you to create a profile that has your name and photo, which will significantly help others to Recognize you either by your email or contact photo across several Google products and services. With that, when you sign into Google Messages using your Google account, you will notice a new Profile Discovery option. 

Google claims that this new change will be very helpful and innovative in comparison with the previous capability that allowed users to recognize the person just by seeing their name or name’s initials, but will also help in recognizing the person who is not saved in your contacts, especially since several individuals are added to the group and by seeing their profile picture, you could be able to recognize that person very well. 

On the flip side, your Google Account profile, which consists of your name and photo, can be changed according to your preference, which means you can choose whether you want to keep your photo or just your name’s initial. Also, the photo that you have set on your profile will appear in the one-on-one or group conversations within Google Messages. 

In contrast, with this new capability, the home screen and conversations of Google Messages will change, while you might see the profile photo that you have set on your Google Contacts. Meanwhile, few users will dislike Google’s new capability; however, the company hasn’t provided any other way to avoid this new capability. Simultaneously, the only way to get rid of this new capability is to change the preference settings. By tapping on the Google Messages Settings >> Advanced >> Profile Discover, your Google account page will get opened. Just tap to turn on or off the profile discovery option.
