Google is Rolling Out A new April 2024 Security Patch For Pixel Phones, including Pixel Fold, along with Pixel 7 and 8 Series

To improve the Pixel even further, Google has just rolled out a new update for a few Pixel phones, which certainly includes the new April 2024 security patch. However, currently, this update is not rolled out through an OTA update.

Google has released a new April 2024 security patch update to its Pixel phones, including the Pixel 7 series—the Pixel 7, 7 Pro and 7a, Fold, and the Pixel 8 series—the 8 and 8 Pro. These phones have already begun receiving the latest build, which arrived with a gap of around two weeks after the usual patch was released at the beginning of this month. This is considered the mid-cycle Android 14 QPR2 build.

The latest builds don’t include any new updates for the Pixel tablet. In contrast, Google uses B1 for the Pixel 7, 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, and the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro build numbers, while the Pixel Fold is given A1 to A2, which significantly points out that this latest build is a minor update. Meanwhile, the eligible Pixel phones with their official detectable build versions are as follows:

  • Pixel 8 Pro: AP1A.240405.002.B1
  • Pixel 8: AP1A.240405.002.B1
  • Pixel Fold: AP1A.240405.002.A2
  • Pixel 7a: AP1A.240405.002.B1
  • Pixel 7 Pro: AP1A.240405.002.B1
  • Pixel 7: AP1A.240405.002.B1

However, it’s important to note that those Pixel owners who have already received the latest April 2024 Android security patch will not notice any new on-device OTA updates. Also, Google has clarified this fact. Meanwhile, Google’s next major update will be Android QPR3, which doesn’t seem to go official until June. Well, it’s expected this latest April 2024 security build will bring some minor bug fixes and a few improvements that were left out from the previous update.
