Google Removed the Nudges and Birthday Reminders From Google Messages

Google has been constantly working on improving the functionalities of Google Messages, either by introducing new features within the app or by removing certain functionalities that don’t seem useful for users. With that, Google has been removing the Nudges option from Google Messages, which significantly offers the capability to reply and birthday reminders.

With the latest Google Messages Beta, bearing 20240429_01_RC00 build version and Stable, users have noticed that the Nudges option has been removed, which was significantly used to reply to some unseen messages and remind users about birthdays.

Google Message: Nudges And Birthday Reminders

Meanwhile, Google Messages’ reply Nudges, introduced in 2022, basically packed two capabilities: one is to reply reminders to those messages that you have not replied to for a while by prompting you to reply to the message, while the other consists of the ability to show those outgoing messages that you have not followed on.

On the flip side, the Nudges feature also includes Birthday reminders, allowing users to remind you about upcoming birthdays in case they have stored their birth dates in their contacts app. Moreover, with the Nudges removed, the Settings (>>Suggestions) page of Google Messages now houses several tabs, including Smart Reply, Suggested Actions, Magic Compose, and Suggested Stickers

Meanwhile, it appears that Google is presenting an example of implementing AI functionalities in its apps and services, and Nudges is one of them. This will probably enhance the functionalities of all Google services for a much better user experience.
