Nothing Phone 2a Gets Nothing OS 2.5.6 Update with new features and May security patch

Carl Pei’s Nothing is emerging as the most prominent Android smartphone brand in the ecosystem. Its newly arrived smartphone, the Nothing Phone (2a), has been under the spotlight after its launch and has collected a lot of fame. Meanwhile, Nothing is constantly introducing new features and enhancements in the form of software updates to the device. In the series of getting new updates, the Nothing Phone (2a) is receiving another latest Nothing OS 2.5.6 update. 


Previously, the Nothing OS 2.5.5 update to the Nothing Phone (2a) introduced the ChatGPT integration and several other relevant improvements. Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone (2a) now receives a new Nothing OS 2.5.6 update, which introduces some new features, improvements, and bug fixes while also integrating the latest May 2024 Android security patch for enhanced security. 

The new Nothing OS 2.5.6 firmware brings new features, improvements, and other bug fixes:

The latest Nothing OS 2.5.6 update to the Nothing Phone (2a) brings several new features, including a new Hide Navigation Bar option for a more immersive user experience. Long pressing on a widget will now offer more options, and a new option will allow users to turn on or off vibrations for other calls and notifications during a call. 

The new Update to the Nothing Phone (2a) further introduces some relevant bug fixes, including fixes for compatibility issues with Android Auto, some issues with the ChatGPT widget, and an issue where the notification panel narrows when receiving certain notifications. It also fixes the issue where the screen does not automatically turn on using the power button. 

In addition, the latest Nothing OS 2.5.6 update integrates the latest May 2024 Android security update that significantly enhances the overall system security, stability, and several performance optimizations to provide users with a much more stable and enhanced software experience.   • Added “Hide Navigation Bar” feature for more immersive user experience. You can find this feature via “Settings > System > Gestures > Navigation mode > Gesture navigation settings > Hide navigation bar”.
  • Long-pressing a widget now brings up more options, making it more consistent with other home screen operations.

  • Optimised camera auto HDR detection logic.

  • Fixed certain compatibility issues with Android Auto.

  • Fixed the issue where the notification panel narrows when receiving certain notifications.

Moreover, this latest firmware rollout to the Nothing Phone (2a) is in the staggered manner, which means it will be pushed to some random users first then will be distributed to all the Nothing Phone (2a) customers over the next coming days.
