Google Releases Android 14 QPR1 Beta 2 As The Next Pixel Feature Drop Inches Closer

As Google had promised, it launched the Pixel 8 and Pixel Watch 2 on October 4, at its Made by Google Event, and then rolled out the stable version of Android 14 immediately after. As usual, Google is on fire and getting ready for its upcoming major software update, the December Pixel Feature Drop, also well known as Android 14 QPR1 (Quarterly Platform Release 1). 

Google started beta testing for this latest version in the last few weeks of September, and then after two weeks, the company is already back at it with Beta 2. However the brand printed the release notes for the new version, but till now, it has yet to make its customary Reddit post marking the rollout. 

The brand rolled out this version with its identification build number, which is U1B2.230922.006, and a security update date of October 2023, similar to QPR1 Beta 1. Noticeably, it’s an extent-sized update. On the Pixel 6 device, it is available at 129MB, and on the Pixel 7 Pro available at 204MB. 

What’s New With QPR1 Beta 2 

Google through Android 14 QPR1 Beta 2 fixing all the top issues, such as sometimes causing the Settings app to crash while the user accessed system Bluetooth settings after pairing a device issue gets solved, another issue where the scrolling animation in some scenes stuttered or paused get fixed, along with known bugs which were impacting system stability and fluent performance. 

With this update, all the bugs and known issues get fixed, which surely leads to better and smoother functionality and enhances the user experience. 

According to reports, this version is also introducing a new Software Updates page as a top-level Settings menu on Pixel phones. It combines OS updates with Google Play System updates and standard app updates, offering the users a centralized location for making sure that they are on the latest software. 

Whereas the latest Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro on the Android 14 beta download page is not appearing. Apart from this, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, or Pixel 5 devices are also not appearing, and this is due to support for all three of these devices ending before December 2023.
