Nothing Phone (2) To Be Powered By Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Chipset: Carl Pei

At MWC 2023, Carl Pei, founder of consumer electronics brand Nothing, said that the Phone (2) would be powered by the Snapdragon 8 series chipset, which is a clear upgrade from the Phone (1). Yesterday, after much speculation, Pei confirmed that the Nothing Phone (2) would be equipped with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor.

Earlier, the CEO of Nothing had announced that the Nothing Phone (2) would be launched later this year. Later, he clarified that this upcoming phone would launch in the summer of 2023 and focus more on the software experience. Compared to Phones (1) with the Snapdragon 778G, apps open almost twice as fast on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

For your information, let us tell you that Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 was introduced a year ago. Now here is this question why is the Nothing phone (2) choosing this instead of some of the latest chipsets? So Nothing CEO Carl Pei clarifies that Nothing takes precedence over user experience when it comes to being first in the specs race. This means that the company is trying to offer more reliability.

Carl Pei Said that:

“The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 has been thoroughly tested and continuously optimised through numerous updates since its introduction a year ago. We prioritise user experience over being first in the specs race.”

As per information, the Snapdragon 8 series chipset in the Nothing phone (2) not only improves the device’s performance but also offers better battery life and camera capabilities. Pai said the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 features an 18-bit image signal processor (ISP) capable of capturing up to 4,000 times more camera data than the ISP used on phones (1). As a result, the Phone (2) camera offers advanced features such as RAW HDR and 4K recording at 60 fps.

Apart from these, the consumer tech giant has not shared any details regarding the launch date and pricing of the Nothing Phone (2). However, reports suggest that the phone will be priced aggressively and will come with considerable upgrades compared to the Nothing Phone (1).
