Previously PUBG Corporation has made the decision to no longer authorize the PUBG MOBILE franchise to Tencent Games in India. Under this statement, the link between the mobile version of PUBG Corporation and Chinese Company (Tencent game) was removed.
After this decision, the company again talked to the Indian Government because the PUBG company wants to satisfy the Indian Government’s Terms and Conditions so that they will get approval and the PUBG Mobile will unban.
There’s always been a lot of confusion about the origin of PUBG Mobile but in our previous post, we cleared it that PUBG Corporation is a South Korean company who developed the game PUBG but to bring the mobile version of PUBG which is well known as PUBG Mobile, PUBG Corporation(South Korean Company) collaborate with Tencent (is a Chinese multinational technology conglomerate holding company. Tencent was founded in Shenzhen, China, in 1998)
PUBG Mobile is one of the most popular mobile games in India. It is one of the most downloaded mobile games. The game is so popular that it even got a mention in one of PM Narendra Modi’s “Pariksha Pe Charcha” event where he jokingly asked a parent (who was complaining about how her kids were into online gaming) if “ye PUBG wala hain kya?” (is this a PUBG Mobile issue?).
Because of its addiction, there have been several calls by state governments and the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights to ban it.
After the Indian government slapped a ban on Chinese apps, the Indian Government department sends 77 questions to all the application owner companies and all are regarding the data security policies, contents the were serving, and lot more. There are also queries whether they censored their contents in favor of foreign governments or not, and they were connected with some influencers to promote their application or not.
To answer these questions, the Information Technology Ministry of India gives them a maximum of three weeks’ time.
The major questions are related to censoring the contents uploaded or shown in their platforms. Specifically, if they censored any content related to the Pulwama Attack of 2019 or not. Besides, they also asked whether they approached any celebrities in our country for the promotion and a few other questions from the fields like advertising, privacy policies, their business structures.
Still, there is no information regarding lifting the ban form any of the 59 apps.
