Why Realme X50 5G uses a dual-hole screen?

Recently Realme released its first 5G Realme X50 in China, The smartphone is powered by the new Snapdragon 765G SoC and also runs on the newly announced Realme UI based on Android 10. The handset features a 6.57-inch full-HD+ (2400×1080 pixels) LCD hole-punch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 90.4 percent screen ratio, and Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. It will be offered with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Notably, there is no microSD card slot for storage expansion. Some consumers do not understand why this phone uses a dual-drilled screen?

For the above question, Realme Product Director Wang Wei Derek published a long post to answer, he said: “I see a lot of discussions about digging screens. Some like it or not, but from the industry perspective, most of the products will be digging screens in the next period.

There are currently two solutions in the industry: the first one is a single front camera with a single hole, which strives to minimize the aperture; the second one, a front dual camera with two holes, prioritizes functionality.

As I said before, the reason why we chose double holes is to put functionality first.

Realme X50 uses a front wide-angle dual-camera solution with a 16MP wide-angle lens + 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and the viewing area is enlarged by 2.5 times. As Xu Qi said at the press conference, the selfie is really small, and it is very suitable for family and friends gatherings Shooting, but the FOV required by the wide-angle lens itself has requirements on the aperture size. Under the premise of meeting the functionality, the opening of the real X50 should be the smallest in the current front ultra-wide-angle dual-shot.

The functional dual-hole dual-camera solution is the original intention of the X50 in the product definition stage. I hope to bring you an excellent selfie experience! “
