OnePlus New Update Policy – These Devices will get 3 major OxygenOS 12/ColorOS 12 and Security updates: OnePlus has released an announcement in the community. In response to system update issues that users are generally concerned about, we hereby explain the rules for the OxygenOS system update. The specific rules are as follows.

OnePlus has already confirmed its new update policy for its OnePlus devices. It is starting with the OnePlus 9 series and the 8 series will now get three major Android OS updates and four years of security updates. This includes T-series and R models too. OxygenOS remains the OS for global OnePlus users as always but is now built on a more stable and stronger platform. This will apply to new devices in the future, while for existing devices that are still within the maintenance schedule, it will occur via an OTA update along with Android 12. These Devices will get 3 years of Major Android OS Update and 4 Years of Security Patch

  • OnePlus 9 Pro
  • OnePlus 9R
  • OnePlus 9
  • OnePlus 8T
  • OnePlus 8 Pro
  • OnePlus 8

These Devices will get 2 years of Major Android OS Update and 3 Years of Security Patch

  • OnePlus 7 Pro
  • OnePlus 7T Pro
  • OnePlus 7T
  • OnePlus 7
  • OnePlus Nord CE
  • OnePlus Nord
  • OnePlus Nord 2

These Devices will get 1 year of Major Android OS Update and 3 Years of Security Patch

  • OnePlus N200 5G
  • OnePlus N100
  • OnePlus N10 5G

Note: Flagship devices released prior to the OnePlus 8 series will follow the previous schedule of 2 major Android updates and 3 years of security updates. Software update plans for carrier versions will follow the requirements of our carrier partners.

    1. I mean, any OEM can do whatever they want when it comes to updates. They can literally just decide not to ever update any phone again, even if they promised they will.
      That would be awful publicity for them, but anything is possible.

  1. I think one plus 7 series are still getting Android 12 ( at least it’s what’s on the road map from oneplus.)

    But oneplus have abandoned their enthusiast costumer base so I guess they all of us should get of this company boat, I won’t be using any other oneplus after this one. ( I had 4 devices from them the 1,the 2, the 3 and the mclaren edition 7pro)
