A few days ago, Ubisoft conducted a financial conference call in which CEO Yves Guillemot addressed recent speculations regarding a prospective game under the name of “Assassin’s Creed Rift.”
Ubisoft has yet to officially announce a follow-up to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but whispers regarding this mysterious game have been spreading online over the previous several weeks.
Assassin’s Creed Rift rumours and Ubisoft’s take on them
The game will presumably center on Basim Ibn Ishaq, a character who appeared in Valhalla. Guillemot was queried by an analyst at the conference about allegations of a smaller Assassin’s Creed game being in the works but did not allude to it by its supposed name. However, Guillemot did exactly that.
“As to your question relating to Rift, I guess what we can say here is that we won’t comment more on the rumor,” Guillemot stated on the call. “We have a very solid roadmap on the AC brand for years to come, with extremely substantial content coming every year.”

Naturally, this doesn’t offer fans much to chew on, but it is intriguing that Guillemot alluded to the suspected game by name whereas the analyst did not. Its conceivable Guillemot is merely acquainted with the stories that have been circulating, or it may signify that there actually is a project in the works with that name.

Rumors concerning the project say that it would be published earlier to Assassin’s Creed Infinity. For now, fans of the series will simply have to wait and see!
In addition to speculations regarding the forthcoming Assassin’s Creed, Guillemot received a question concerning the prospect of Ubisoft being owned by another firm. The CEO emphasized that Ubisoft may stay independent, although it will evaluate any bids from possible purchasers.
Given the magnitude of Ubisoft, it is impossible to see another publisher gobbling over the firm, but Guillemot’s openness to hearing bids is undoubtedly fascinating.
