OnePlus 8 Series Lost Its Software Support With OxygenOS 13

Back in 2020, the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro smartphones were launched with OxygenOS 10 based on Android 10 software, while the OnePlus 8T was initially introduced with Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 software and will be eligible to receive the Android three software update.

OnePlus was the first non-Google maker to roll out Android 13 for its 2022 flagship, the OnePlus 10 Pro. Then, in the third week of November, OxygenOS 13 was released for the company’s entire 2020 product portfolio, with the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and OnePlus 8T getting the latest Android OS.

Now, the question here is whether the OnePlus 8 series will receive the upcoming Android 14 update or not. Well, the OnePlus 7 and 7T series have already stopped support for major software updates. And it looks like the OnePlus 8, and 8 Pro are the next to lose major software support.

OnePlus OxygenOS Maintenance Policy:

Beginning of the month, OnePlus announced the new OnePlus update policy; This includes a commitment to guarantee four major ColorOS updates, along with five years of security patches, on select flagship models starting in 2023. Through this, the company aims to bring users a longer-lasting and more stable intelligent experience while continuing to build on OxygenOS.

In 2021, the company announced a change in its update policy for devices from two years of major software updates to a promise of three years of major software updates and four years of monthly security updates.

At the launch of the OnePlus 8 series, the company says that it is a new device and will receive three major Android updates and four years of security updates.

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro: Both the devices Launched with Android 10 upgraded to Android 13, so it concludes that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will lose their software support with this latest Android build.

OnePlus 8T: This smartphone was launched with Android 11 and has also received Android 12 and Android 13 updates. Additionally, it is eligible to receive three major software updates, meaning that the OnePlus 8T will receive OxygenOS 14 on top of the Android 14 software update.
