Google Messages Releases Vertical Photo Picker Gallery Widely

Google Messages is currently Google’s flagship texting app. Recently, Google released a new update that replaces the word ‘Chat’ with ‘RCS’ in Google Messages. This clearly indicates that the company is very comfortable making the RCS consumer-friendly. In a recent development, the company redesigned a photo picker that makes it much easier to access older pictures.

In November 2022, Google started testing a vertical photo gallery in Messages for Android. As seen in the beta update (Google Messages beta messages.android_20230224_04_RC00.phone.openbeta_dynamic), the Messages app displays a vertically scrollable photo picker browser when opening a photo gallery in a conversation instead of the grid photo picker. And the scrolling picker is now rolling out to wide availability.

Moving forward, when you open a photo gallery during a conversation, the Messages now show the photos as a grid that you scroll through vertically instead of swiping to browse. On the left is the same live camera preview, while a smaller shortcut to the “folder” view is next to it.

For your information, let us tell you that this feature has been available for some users since September, and others have started getting it recently. The wider availability of RCS Chat is also slowly starting to roll out. You must enrol in the Google Messages beta program to access this new feature. Below, you can check the link:
