WhatsApp Announces Companion Mode, Can Use Same Account On Up To 4 Devices

After rolling out Companion Mode for all beta testers on WhatsApp beta for Android, WhatsApp is now rolling out a multi-device offering by introducing the ability to use the same WhatsApp account on multiple phones. This feature will be available to everyone after installing the latest stable version of WhatsApp from Google Play Store!

Like Telegram and Signal, you can use your WhatsApp account on multiple devices without deactivating it from other devices. Last year, WhatsApp introduced the ability for users globally to send messages across all their devices while maintaining the same level of privacy and security.

In this recent development, the company has further improved its multi-device offering by introducing the ability to use the same WhatsApp account on multiple phones. As per the users’ demand, the company introduced this ability to link your phone as one of up to four additional devices, the same as when you link with WhatsApp on web browsers, tablets, and desktops.

As input, each phone linked connects independently to WhatsApp, ensuring that your personal messages, media, and calls are end-to-end encrypted. If your primary device is left idle for an extended period, we automatically disconnect it.

According to the information, this update has started rolling out to users globally and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks. The company offers an alternative, more accessible way to link to companion devices. You can now enter your phone number on WhatsApp Web to receive a one-time code, which you can use to enable device connecting on your phone instead of scanning a QR code.
