2023 seems to be the year with new icons. Most of the application has already upgraded icon, and now, finally, Instagram is also updating its icon to support dynamic theming. Meta-owned Instagram application for Android brings support for a dynamic-themed icon. The company is rolling out this new change along with its identification build number, which is 307.0.0.0.30. To experience this new dynamic theme change, the users must make sure that their device is running on the Android 13 or above version because this change is only applicable to Android 13 and above versions.
It is being speculated through a post shared on Telegram, shared by @MishaalRahman, that Instagram has finally added a themed icon on Android. He mentioned that;
“Instagram has finally added a themed icon on Android! This is available in version 307.0.0.0.30.”
“Now, the only app that’s missing support for this in my “Social” Folder is Facebook.”
By this above statement, it is pretty clear that Instagram users are getting a themed icon on Android, and this change will appear with the labeled version number. And Meta’s other application ‘Facebook’ is the only social media app that is far away from a themed icon.
Now, the users will get a material you-themed icon for the Instagram application. It displays a dual-tone application icon with the dominant color being picked up from the user’s chosen home screen wallpaper. Various social media applications have recently added support for Material You-themed application icons. Those applications include Mastodon, Linkedin, Reddit, Telegram, Threads, and WhatsApp.
Whereas most applications from Google and Samsung also support this customization feature. Meanwhile, the rest of the application will get the theming feature in the coming days.
