Spotify Shoots Down a Big Rumor It Still will not allow in-app purchases via the App Store.

Almost several years ago, Spotify removed in-app purchases from the Spotify app for iOS users in order to avoid paying Apple a cut of its revenue. In the meantime, an anonymous rumor surfaced across the internet that the popular music streaming platform Spotify is planning to reverse this decision. However, the company has shot down this rumor, and it will still not let iOS users conduct in-app purchases through the App Store.

According to the report that rolled up across the internet, claiming that the leading music streaming platform, Spotify, has decided to re-group the in-app purchases from the App Store. However, Spotify officially confirmed that it’s not at all planning to rally the in-app purchase through the App Store. The In-app purchase support will not be coming back again.

Denying all the rumors, Spotify illustrated its side by confirming that the platform is not planning to allow iOS users to subscribe to Spotify directly through the App Store using an in-app purchase. In the meantime, Farshad Shadloo, the global head of corporate and policy communications of Spotify, has stated to the Verge, “We have no plans to switch IAP (in-app payments) on at the moment.”

Meanwhile, in 2016, Spotify removed the ability for users to subscribe through Apple’s in-app purchase system. In contrast, it’s been a while since Spotify also removed its older customers who were still associated with the App Store billing.

On the flip side, Daniel Ek, the CEO of Spotify, has constantly criticized Apple as well as the App Store for having control over several instances on the internet. And with that, in the most recent times, Spotify has revealed the shocking news that its sudden plan to kick off 1500 employees, approximately 17% of its working team, was a part of its strategic re-orientation.
