How Many Software Updates Will The New Honor X9b 5G Get?

Android smartphones usually get two kinds of updates: major OS updates that arrive once a year, and security patches, which come either monthly or on a quarterly basis, depending on the brand. In contrast, each one of us wants our Android devices to last as long as possible.

In the meantime, software updates are the most prominent factor in smartphones, as they allow devices to keep themselves safe internally while also increasing their lifespan for a year or two. Simultaneously, it’s the smartphone manufacturer who decides how much software updates their devices will witness and for how long through announcing their respective software update policies, where the Honor is no different. With that, let’s dive in to know how many software updates the new Honor X9b 5G will be capable of getting and for how long.

Honor X9b 5G Software Update Policy

Usually, Honor sticks to committing two software updates to its smartphones, while the brand has been consistently committed to a standard software update policy for almost all of its smartphones, which is two major OS updates with three years of security patch updates, respectively. Even the newest Honor X9b 5G is no exception; the device will receive the same two major OS updates and three years of security updates.

Since launching with Android 13-based MagicOS 7.2 out of the box, the newest Honor X9b will get 2 major OS updates until Android 15, which will help the device get refreshed with new features and enhancements, while it will receive its 3 years of security patches until 2027, respectively, which means the device will be secured and retain its stability for a much longer time in its whole lifespan.
