IP Rating, Water Resistance Explained:

As mentioned, it’s better to know whether the device has some durability or not, including waterproofing capability. In the meantime, yes, Redmi has offered an IP54 rating to both devices. Both the devices, the Redmi Note 13 and the Note 13 Pro, come with an IP54 rating, which makes them protected against dust and water ingress. But how? Here’s the complete explanation. Read on!

The IP, or Ingress Protection Rating, is the industrial standard mark that is provided when the device is being tested against two kinds of ingresses, solid and liquid, respectively. While the IP68 is considered the highest level of protection, In contrast, with regards to the Redmi Note 13 and the Note 13 Pro, the first digit is for solid (dust) ingress protection, while here the first digit is 5, meaning that both the Note 13 and Note 13 Pro are entirely dust resistant.

On the flip side, the second digit of an IP rating is 4, which is for the liquid ingress, which is water, while the 4 is considered the least amount of protection, allowing the device to only be capable of handling a few water drops and splashes but not fully submersion in water. This means that the devices, the Redmi Note 13 and Note 13 Pro, are only dust- and water-resistant but not waterproof.
