Is POCO X6 Neo 5G Waterproof?

It’s been a few days since POCO introduced its latest phone, the POCO X6 Neo 5G, while this latest smartphone holds some interesting features and specs that caught customers’s attention soon after its arrival. Among all the key features of the phone, manufacturers have been highly investing in increasing the water-repelling nature of their smartphones, which is impressive, and the water-repelling property is denoted by an IP rating. Similarly, POCO has also offered an IP rating for its latest arrival, the POCO X6 Neo, but is the device waterproof or just water resistant?

With the fastest-growing trend, several smartphones have begun incorporating the water repellent property into their phones, which significantly increases their durability to some extent. In contrast, the newest POCO X6 Neo comes with an IP54 rating, which claims the device to be dust and water (splash) resistant but not waterproof.

Yes! POCO has ensured an IP54 rating for its latest POCO X6 Neo, while an IP, or Ingress Protection Rating, is the industry-level standard that’s given to any phone when it’s being tested for its solid and liquid repellent properties. Also, in an IP rating, the device is tested for two types of ingress: solid (dust) and liquid (water), respectively. In terms of POCO X6 Neo, the first digit in an IP rating is for solid components, that is, dust particles, while the digit is 5, which means that the device is dust resistant.

On the flip side, the second digit following the IP rating is for liquid components, that’s water, and here the digit is 4, which is considered to have the least amount of water repellent properties, while the phone is capable of withstand a few water splashes but not the entire submersion in water. This clarifies that the new POCO X6 Neo is dust- and water-resistant and not waterproof.
