At the moment, the users only have the ability to reply to someone’s notes by just text messages. But once the brand rolls out this feature, then, the users will reply to notes in DMs in multiple ways, which are as follows;

This is being speculated by a post on Instagram shared by Adam Mosseri, which states that. 

We’ve been testing new ways to reach and respond to notes in DMs using audio, photo, video, gifs, and stickers. We hope this gives people new and fun ways to connect and interact in notes.”

By this statement, it is pretty clear that soon, the users will have more fun and multiple ways to react to someone’s notes in their DMs. By this, the users will be able to interact with their friends more quickly and easily. However, for now, the feature is in the developing stage, but soon the brand will roll it out widely.
